Client
eBay Inc. is a multinational e-commerce giant headquartered in San Jose, California. Established in September 1995, the company boasts 134 million yearly active buyers globally and manages approximately $74 billion in transactions annually across 190 markets. With various warehouse locations worldwide handling authentication and distribution for categories like jewelry, sneakers, and high-value collectibles, eBay faced the challenge of consolidating processes and streamlining operations due to multiple acquisitions, locations, and teams.
Project
I took the lead in redesigning and implementing a comprehensive overhaul for eBay’s global network of warehouse software tools and their design language and usability system. These tools are utilized across the world by diverse international internal user groups. Collaborating closely with eBay’s core warehouse technology team, we initiated the process by creating a design language and usability strategy. The primary objectives were to streamline processes and enhance overall efficiency. Subsequently, we applied this new universal language to all user journeys, station workflows, and inventory touch points.
Results
The redesigned tools have yielded a substantial increase in efficiency, reducing the time of operations by over 600%. Moreover, the design framework implemented is adaptable and flexible, accommodating additional future features such as AI-powered authenticity as they are integrated into the system.
